Racing Rules

Race Formats

Racing consists of each competitor racing once in each lane for each class raced. Total laps will be totaled at the end of each heat.  Track owner will provide controllers for the participants to use unless otherwise granted permission

Points per Class.

Points are awarded for the total laps after all heats are completed for the class.  The points are 10, 7,5,4,3,2,1 respectively.  A competitor needs to complete minimum one lap in a race heat to score minimum points for that class. Fastest lap time will be used to break any ties in the event of a tie in the total lap count.  Bonus point awarded to fastest lap time driver.

Minimum Number of Competitors

For a race to be a valid championship race, there must be a minimum of 3 racers. This ensures that a race will be fairly awarded points.   Please reply to the invitation so the race day can be planned or rescheduled if there is not enough participants.

Season (Winter 2014-15)

Class points are determined at each of the weekly races during the 20 week season. At the end of the season, the 6 highest race point accumulations in each class for each participant are totaled to determine the Class Champions. Ties are broken with number of wins, seconds and so on…..  There are 8 races scheduled per class for the season.

Classes

Only the cars outlined within the class rules will be raced for points towards determining the Class Champion.  Any additional cars to be added to the class list will need to be approved by the Club.  To add or exclude cars just a simple email to all to create a discussion will be needed.  Same cars (example Scalextric 911 in both the 911 class and GT class) not allowed in multiple classes.  No car substitutions allowed during any class race.  Once a car starts a class heat, that car is the only one allowed to compete in the class heats that day.

Starting a Race Heat

Thirty minutes before the start of the race day (12:30PM if racing starts at 1PM)  ALL cars intended to be raced (one car per racer per class) are placed in the Park Ferme’ which is a designated area within the track area where a quick visual inspection of all cars will be performed by two individuals assigned by the track owner.  The inspectors will not take the cars apart, they will just give each car a visual inspection to make sure the car is legal.  After the cars are inspected the car is deemed legal to race and to continue practicing with.  Once racing begins the cars are to stay in the Park Ferme’ including after every heat until the car’s class is completed.  If a car is not ready when the competitors have drawn up to the start, the race start will continue as planned with or without that driver in order not to waste time.

Crashes (Marshal System)

In the event of a car crashing or creating an obstacle for competitors, the driver of that car must shout the color of their lane.  At this point the Marshal will replace the car into the proper lane, the race still continues during this time but under caution where the car has crashed, please be alert.   In the event of a collision between vehicles, and both are disconnected, the vehicle which has crashed first will be replaced first by the marshal (to the best of their ability!).

It is up to each driver to exercise caution when they hear a vehicle has crashed.

Marshals please be alert, your job is very important!

Crashes (Token System)

In the event of a car crashing or creating an obstacle for competitors, the track call button get pressed which stops power to all lanes stopping all momentum.  At this point the Marshal will replace the car into the proper lane.  The offender loses a token, once he loses all tokens that heat’s race is done for him.  The track call button gets pressed again and after a momentary pause the race continues.  In the event of a collision between vehicles, and both are disconnected, both offenders lose their tokens.

It is up to each driver to exercise caution when they hear a vehicle has crashed.

Marshals please be alert, your job is very important!

Mechanical Failure.

If during the race a car suffers a mechanical break down, it may continue the race if possible.  However, if the car with the mechanical problem is creating a hazard for the other drivers, the car needs to be pulled off by the driver or the marshal and the competitor is allowed to fix the problem ( No Motor changes), the race heat meanwhile continues without that competitor.  The driver can miss the rest of his heat or any additional heats they are scheduled to race as he repairs his car.  The driver cannot repair his car if he is scheduled to marshal, marshaling takes priority.

Disputes

The track owner will have final say in a dispute regarding an issue that requires immediate attention if there is no agreement as a group.  On the other hand non-urgent issues should be just noted and discussed later in order to complete the days racing.  If it is a track or hardware issue the track owner always will have final say as it is their equipment.  If a track owner feels a car is damaging the track, they will be allowed to pull the car of the track (example car chassis/body hitting sensors or track joints).
